Frequently asked questions

How do Duette® blinds provide insulation?

Duette® blinds provide an insulating barrier at the window, which can reduce heat loss by up to 55%. This is achieved through a clever honeycomb structure, which traps air, keeping heat inside the room. Energy-efficient blinds can help you to maintain a comfortable temperature all year round. They provide the perfect combination of style and practicality. Over the summer months, thermal blinds work to keep a room cool, and over the winter months, they provide much-needed insulation.

Are Duette® blinds made-to-measure?

Yes, we partner with Hillarys, specialists in bespoke window furnishings. A design consultant will visit your home, share the full range, and provide a no-obligation quote. If you decide to proceed, an installer will return for detailed measurements, to ensure your new blinds fit to the nearest millimetre. With over fifty years of expertise, you can rely on Hillarys.

Are Duette® blinds better than curtains?

Duette® blinds provide a contemporary alternative to traditional curtains. They offer complete control over light, privacy and temperature. They’re also suitable for a shaped window, such as a bay window or gable end. There are plenty of ways to personalise your blinds, with a stunning array of Duette® shades and fabrics, including blackout options. At your in-home design consultation, you will be able to view the full range.

Are honeycomb blinds see-through at night?

Because Duette® honeycomb blinds are made from two or more layers of fabric, it isn't easy to see through them at night, unless you deliberately choose a sheer fabric. For this reason, they are ideal for windows that may be overlooked. Unlike some other styles of Pleated blinds, Duette® blinds do not have visible holes. The lack of holes means that they can be thermal blackout blinds when you select a blackout fabric.

Are Duette® blinds child-safe?

Yes, Duette® blinds are inherently child-safe by design, so they are perfect for a child's bedroom or nursery. They are operated by a simple tab control, rather than loose hanging cords. If you choose to upgrade to electric blinds, they can be controlled with a remote control or even a smart device, such as Amazon Alexa or Google Home.

How to clean Duette® blinds

The easiest way to keep your Duette® blinds clean is to use the soft brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner, designed for soft furnishings and upholstery. You could also use a feather duster or a damp cloth. It's important not to press too hard when cleaning your blinds, as you risk damaging the unique honeycomb structure.

Are Duette® blinds available in different styles and colours?

Yes. Duette® blinds are available in a wide selection of colours and fabrics, giving you total control over the finished look. At your in-home appointment, your design consultant will show you the full range. They can also advise on which designs may suit your window or door.

How are Duette® blinds fitted?

Duette® blinds are fitted at door or window frames using a patented tension technique, which doesn't use loose or free-hanging cords to operate the blinds. For this reason, they are inherently child-safe by design. The blinds can be fitted in many different shaped windows and are perfect for different window sizes and large expanses of glass. If you have a bay window or gable end window, they can be made to fit perfectly. They are also ideal for doors, including patio doors and bi-folds.

Are Duette® blinds the same as acoustic blinds or noise-reducing blinds?

Duette® blinds help to provide acoustic control and reduce background noise. As well as being energy efficient, the unique honeycomb structure of the blinds absorbs up to 45% of background noise, improving the acoustics in your room. They are also available as made-to-measure blackout blinds, for ultimate light and noise control.
